Wende
Waggoner Berryhill has been drawing and painting since childhood. She
earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from Stephen F. Austin State
University in Texas. She married her husband, Steve, right out of
college, and they began their married life in the Air Force. With an
art degree, portfolio in hand, and great ambition for a career in
commercial art, their first assignment to Wurtsmith AFB in Michigan
did not provide many opportunities for this career path! Wende began
painting watercolor scenes of the local area and showed them in art
galleries. Aviation art became one of her major interests as she
settled into her life in the military community. Because of her
interest in detailed, realistic renderings, the style of “pointillism”
worked very well in her portrayal of various aircraft. Working
directly with squadron groups and wings to create one-of-a-kind
drawings was very fulfilling to Wende. Starting with one squadron in
1984, she went on to create over 150 unique creations that depict the
work of different groups and organizations all over the world.
Berryhill Art Studio
offers a full array of matting and framing options for each print.
Wende likes to customize her artwork for each customer, making a truly
unique creation. The lithographs can be personalized with wings,
badges, coins, patches, scarves in a variety of matting and framing
designs. Each print can be watercolored for a dramatic, extraordinary
product. By offering a variety of customized choices, each unit has
numerous possibilities to create an original remembrance that will fit
into any budget and desired style.
There are two additional
collections of artwork that are devoted to the military way of life.
The Calligraphy Collection
is a unique assortment of calligraphy and original drawings focusing
on the love of family, friends, and the enriching experiences of life
in the Military. The lithographs are printed in color, and a variety
of matting and framing options are available. These make wonderful
gifts for military wives and friends.
The Collection of Bases
is the newest line of artwork. This is a series of composite drawings
featuring highlights and landmarks from Air Force Bases around the
world. The prints are designed to complement each other, making
additions to personal collections simple. The matted prints are sized
to an 8x10, which makes it easy to frame and display.
Berryhill
Art Studio is now permanently settled in Birmingham, Alabama, where
Wende’s husband flies full time for the Alabama Air National Guard.
When she is not working in the studio, she is trying to keep up with
the active lives of their five children. Their four daughters
and one son range in age from 8 to
25 years.
Wende has always enjoyed
working with the military community because of their professionalism,
great pride in their work and career, and their devotion to family.
Her future plans include the expansion of her aviation art to include
more aircraft and bases, and also the completion of The
Collection of Bases.
